| So often when I've asked such questions, I am refered to as 'troubled', mean, sinner, unbeliever or just plain crazy and treated as someone who is wrong to even put forth such words. I was met with the same responses when ever I questioned or showed any objection to certain American polictical leanings or leaders.
I do not doubt you have seen is what you call God, some of us though have a different take when it comes to what many call God or The Great Mystery. It's something I see every day whether it's people displaying acts of love and compassion or a hunting Red Tail Hawk soaring in circles waiting for the right time to dive down on a Cottontail. I see it every day and night and know it is always around me. No 'trouble' there.
Maybe it was the Thread's course which prompted me to reply. Political accusations served up with a side dish of God. I can hardly find a loving or compassionate God's touch to anything which has occured in the leadership, means and actions of the American Government since July 4th 1776. Maybe Tecumseh, Sitting Bull, Fredrick Douglas or countless others who's right to live a happy and free life was shattered by people past and present building their own American Dream, would say the same of a nation that was founded by slave owners and genocidal killers who worshipped the 'one true god' A nation founded by such can never be anything than than what it is and should be dismissed.
And where are so many of those American Dreamers ? Betrayed by those they have elected and counted on to serve them as they lose their livelyhoods, homes and right to happiness. Now these elected leaders have turned on their own. They serve their own greed.
Obama is a conman ? Just like all the others before him whom certain American Citizens have supported, killed, died for or in some cases preached, lied and parroted for.
So if you must call me troubled, mean, or wrong that is your opinion or vocation. To me it is a freedom, and I shall always exercise my right to voice opinion, question or object to what everyone else is going on about around a fire or in the council lodge even if it invokes scorn or causes me to be shunned.
Perhaps Gabriel, there are other issues afoot besides a person asking a question.
Oh by the way I had a good day yesterday and plan to have one today as well, 'God' willing.

| Your post is insightful as it comes to the "bringing of the concept of God" into the public square through all the deceit of our so called founding fathers of this country, and I would agree with everything you wrote.
Please understand, I am not political at all and try hard not to ever be as I find everything this government does as well as most others disgusting.
When the name of God is brought up in the political system that also sickens me. I also have no particular fond feelings of the church system itself as it too is corrupted and has been by the political.
So anytime I speak of God I am referring to the "personal God" that I have come to know and love, not the corrupted one of the state or church.
And that is where I find the most "trouble". It is hard for a person to speak of God, when so much evil has been done in the name of God by the church and state throughout the years.
But the God I serve is not the state or political God, but one that saved my life from an incurable disease in 1979. So anytime I mention the word God in most places, I have a lot of resistance from people that are not able to make the distinction between the state/Church God and a "personal loving one".
All of the corruption from the Church/state has effectively kept many people from ever seeking a "personal God" because of their misconception that there could be a loving God other than the evil state/Church version.
I do not think you troubled Longhunter, I was only referencing your issue to me about "personalizing God" as you seemed to think this is something odd??
I understand your explanation you posted above, but it seems to me that we are talking about two different things here, "my personal relationship with God" and the one you wrote about in this current post, the "State/Church God" who is not one I recognize.

And why would a loving and compassionate force or entity all powerful enough to be called God allow such ? Punishment ? Make people wander about in a fearful state for 40 years in the wilderness ? Bring about plague, famine or invading, warlike, conquering non-believers to burn the temple ? To keep the flock in check with threats of a Satan and a horrible hell if we don't follow his commands or rules ? Sorry, I find scant love, compassion or benevolence in any religion or path that would allow such pain and suffering to continue unchecked.

This is exactly the point of me personalizing God as I do. Yes all the things are evil that has been done by the church/state in the name of God.
Why would anybody want to follow that? Anyone with a brain would not I would think.
That makes my point about a personal God that is loving as has been my experience since 79.
When I was healed in 79, I did not seek God to heal me?? He just showed up and did it, did not cost me a penny. I have never been a religious person in my whole life, so why would I ask God to help me when I did not believe in one?? Well I did not ask, because my thoughts of God was the Church/state God and I wanted no part of it.
But after a few years of learning and investigating, I came to a conclusion about the Church/State God image. This image of God is a false image and it is meant to keep people from seeking a personal God, and hopefully becoming enlightened by the experience. If this theory is correct, who benefits from this the most??
The rulers/politicians/church leaders/governments. This is why I know that the church/state image of God is magnified by the system we live in for the purpose of deceiving the common man, and to keep people away from the real God of love.
