Having found places where these plastic shamans and their followers congregate, I've taken the fight to them.

skywatcher, perhaps you did not notice that "kim" joined and posted
1 (one) response almost 5 months ago ... i must admit, your
characterization of our little forum as boring kinda rubbed me
the wrong way ... it is sometimes quiet, yes, as we go about our
lives, but if a person is bored, it originates with them and does not
reflect on the membership .... feeling a bit defensive about tfiwy, i guess,
and apologize in advance if i am out of line ....

It was a little 'tongue in cheek' WH and not meant in any demeaning way, hence this little snicker snicker I know it can get slow sometimes, buts that's just the way forums go. I didn't literally mean I was bored with this one.

Maybe it the difference in humour with over the pond. I was joking.

Thanks WineHippie. I've been away fighting the moon bats and the other bat-sh!t crazy followers of the plastic shamans. I had to take a break as they were ready to bury a big crystal in my cranium.

I do believe both the Lakota and Salish people have taken legal action against Crowther. She's been taking her medicine show to Europe here of late as did White Eagle Medicine Woman.

little grandmother's story, at first, sounds to me a if
she may be the "real deal" - but now i think part of the reason
i accepted her at first was partly because i am not knowledeable
about authentic indians from personal experience, only from
books and movies and media - so i would not know enough to
say to myself "wait a minute, kiesha ties herself to the salish, but
my people are the salish and i never heard of her so i will ask
my people"

if i talk with someone and we discover we are both webmasters and
s/he describes what s/he does, i can tell pretty quickly if they
are "embellishing" or the genuine article or are just full of it - because i have

i feel the indians at NAFPS have expertise in something i do not, so i listen ...
and reading through the thread, from OP through last comment, i do
not think the expose style qualifies as "attack" unless defense is
appropriate response, and then my question would be "why do you
feel defensive?"
***
when i am on firm ground in debate, i am calm, not defensive ...
when i debate an issue for which i have not formulated a learned/researched
opinion, i flounder, get sidetracked and feel threatened (defensive) ...
i am not sure if this is true for everyone, but it tells me a lot

WineHippie, perhaps it may be beneficial for you to look a bit deeper into NAFPS itself. It appears a lot of their champions are not of native heritage. There is one in particular myself and others have tracked. At NAFPS this person claims to have no NDN blood at all, but at others claims to be either 1/16th Cherokee, or else 1/16th Haudenosaunee. In my opinion this person is another new age fraud but with an angle and that is to knock out the competition(other new age plastic medicine people) by claiming to be a protector of all NDNs. I see it as the 'Man called Horse' syndrome where a white person yearns to be a great chief of native people.

hiyas, LH .... i was posting with the folks at NAFPS as a result of the little grandmother affair way back when the issue of her credentials/or lack of came to light .... it seems like a lifetime ago! i am willing to entertain the idea that not all people associated with ideas i resonate with are genuine .... in fact, i learn everyday of infiltration and of the methods by which it is achieved .... which only serves to keep me on my toes, to make me wonder who can be trusted and to depend mostly on my self .... back then, i would be shocked or outraged and then respond ... now i just observe and adjust ... i must admit that i have yearned to be part of an NDN tribe, because of all the sacred ways i have examined, i would choose native american or buddhist as closest to my own sensibility
***
this is funny, i thought: when sis and i traveled to arizona, i really thought i would meet and talk with NDNs, and i really looked forward to it ... 3 years later, i returned to the coast having met none, a dream dashed ... i was sitting on the steps outside, having a smoke, and a beautiful young man sat down next to me, i rolled him a smoke and we talked for an hour ... can you guess the punchline? yep, he was a NDN ... sometimes i really just have to laugh at myself
