Subject: israel and U.S. attacking turkey? Sat Nov 05, 2011 1:02 pm
perhaps not in the conventional sense, but consider these current news items from MSM: i added the BOLD
Quote :
Two boats carrying pro-Palestinian activists have reached international waters of the eastern Mediterranean and are making their way towards the Gaza Strip, in the latest attempt to break the Israeli blockade against the territory.
The Tahrir, or Canadian Boat to Gaza, and the MV Saoirse, the Irish boat to Gaza, left the port of Fethiye in southwest Turkey on Wednesday after Turkish authorities gave them permission to sail to the Greek island of Rhodes.
The Turkish coast guard briefly escorted the ships before the Tahrir and Saoirse took a turn towards Gaza.
The United States says it has received assurances from Turkey that it will not send warships to accompany two new aid ships seeking to break Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip.
The US also signalled its opposition to blockade busting as Irish activists said the Irish ship Saoirse and Canadian vessel Tahrir, carrying 27 people, are south-west of Cyprus and expected to reach Gaza by Friday (local time).
An Australian pro-Palestinian activist, Michael Coleman, is onboard the Tahrir. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has advised against travel to Gaza but says it will provide assistance to Mr Coleman if needed.
In September, amid a longstanding dispute with Israel over aid flotillas, Turkey threatened to send warships to escort any aid vessels trying to reach Gaza in defiance of Israel's naval blockade.
But State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters US officials had warned Ankara against such a step at the time and were told on Thursday that no Turkish warships would escort the aid vessels.
"We've been clear to them that we think that that would be an extremely bad idea. And they've now reassured us that that is not what they are doing in this case," she said. Ms Nuland added there were concerns "that there were Turkish warships accompanying ... this [new] flotilla. And we were told quite emphatically by the Turkish government that that was not the case."
Earthquake in Eastern Turkey On Oct. 23, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 hit near the city of Van, not far from the country’s border with Iran. Two days after the quake, officials said that 360 people had been confirmed dead and that more than 1,300 had been treated for injuries, but the death toll could rise. More than 2,260 buildings had collapsed.
Diplomatic Breach with Israel In May 2010, a deadly Israeli commando raid on a Turkish protest flotilla bound for Gaza nearly severed diplomatic relations. Turkey demanded an official apology, compensation to victims’ relatives and a lifting of the blockade on Gaza as conditions for normalizing its heavily strained relations; so far, Israel has decided not to apologize. In September 2011, Turkey downgraded its diplomatic and military ties and expelled Israel’s ambassador. Turkey once ranked as Israel’s closest ally in the Muslim world. The latest move stopped just short of a complete breach in diplomatic relations but nonetheless seemed likely to deepen the already profound alienation between the two countries.
Military Commanders Crisis In July 2011, Turkey was plunged into a political crisis when the nation’s top military commanders tendered letters of retirement suddenly and en masse in a dramatic signal of deepening tensions between the armed forces and the government.

HAARP is a government run thing, so they are not going to stop when they want to shake up an area, they will. So in effect we have nobody to complain to. It's a bit like asking the fox to not go into the chicken coupe when the fox is the boss of the hen house.
