affraid Sleep scratch

these thoughts have been bouncing around in my head for days/daze and i'm sorry if they disturb anyone
but
what if
you got up tomorrow and the electric was off..everything...
no tv..no computer..no coffee pot
and you went to call the power company and your phone didn't work
land line or cell
wow..you scratch your head and wonder what the hell is going on today
so you figure
take a shower and go to work or school or whereever
just grab a coffee on the way maybe
and there was no water
damn ..you think i gotta go find out what happened
so you decide
to get dressed and head to work or whatever
and your car wouldn't start either

so now you're really wondering what the hell is going on

there you are just standing outside wondering what happened
the sky looks normal..well maybe a tinge of a wierd color off to one side

you see a neighbor emerge and yell over
hey, is your power and water off?
the neighbor says..yeah..yours?
you say yeah do you know what happening?
and of course the neighbor has no idea either

obviously you can't go anywhere without your car
but why is everything OFF
a group forms in the street..trying to figure it out
you talk to folks you've never talked to before
they're pretty nice people

no body has an answer but you figure by the end of the day you'll know something
the cops or fire dept will be around to check on things

so for the rest of the day you fuss around
or read a book
just waiting for everything to come back on
so you can call someone or hear the news of
why absolutely everything is off

late in the afternoon you realize just how awful
life can be with no water or power and everything you are used to having
you decide to go to bed..it's really dark with no lights
so what can you do anyway

the next day is the same and still no answer
doesn't look like anyone is coming out to save the day

you talk with the neighbors again and someone says they're going to head out to
the business district and find out
they eventually come back that everything is off everywhere and no one has any info

now what do you do?????

do you have any idea of what would happen next??

and then a little voice says
get ready..
prepare

spooky scenario..ain't it

Wild yes...but entirely possible. Sounds like the scenario if a CME were to hit the earth.

Instantly throw us back 100 years. We would have to live like our grandparents did. Luckily I remember. Communities would have to pull together and help each other out. This is much easier in the rural areas like you and I Sky. In the big cities, it would be pandamonia, with stores being luted and houses broken into. Not a nice picture indeed. swordsman

well, i'm set for water. Windmills baby, windmills. And rainwater tanks.

Gas for cooking.

Its a hell of a walk into town, but i'm pretty sure my reserve bike will function after a CME/EMP. The new bike is electric start, but the old one is all old school.

Probably want to dig up that 44gallon drum full of ak47s as well. (note to self; purchase ak47s and empty drum. Bury in backyard asap)

Interesting topic though sky. Would hate to be in the city for this.

nice Scenario Sky, alldo apocalyptic.

And with the car not working, it must be a magnetic (Micjer's CME wink ) problem ha.
So i will try to stay positive, out of the doom-thoiughts.
Concentrating on believe, go with the wind.

So i try to keep, those thoughts out.
They represent fear to me, as fear is a brain-killer.

well, i sorta deal with this on occasion ...
***
right now, pipes are frozen (again) so no water ...
no shower, no flushes, but i have some bottled gallons for drinking ...
my car has registration expired and i have no insurance,
so i am limited where i can drive, unless i want ticket(s) ...
the power goes out so comp won't work, no lights either ...
thank goodness for wood burning stove so at least
i am not freezing ... we are too far from food source to walk ...
i wait for an offer of ride to closest grocery store, they are few
and far between, so i make do with what i have (rice, beans) ...
have no cell phone (don't care to have one, either) ...
i use an italian espresso maker so i can make coffee over a fire
or propane camp stove ....
***
so you see, i have been practicing
***
am going to set up some sprouting boxes inside my southern window
so at least i will have some "live" nutrition
***
and still, i feel lucky

Hippie

you are a way-shower..ahead of your time
sunny

i had to laugh..overheard a guy in the grocery the other day
finally got out thur the snow
and he was saying to another guy that the world sucked
and he would be happy to go amish
lol!

for you outside of the states
the amish are a group who do not accept the use of "modern" stuff
and have stayed with pioneer type farming and living
group-hug

i have done everything i can to be ready and we do have gas
so that is good..and after years of camping..i have all my camping gear
even a solar shower...lol..which will do me no good in this weather

Brilliant idea this thread sky.

@Stal, I know this is going to sound pathetic and totally dumb but I never knew how windmills helped with water, I will have to google and not be so lazy; although I have noticed that people who have built their underground off the grid homes do put in a windmill.

My thoughts also have been waking up one morning, but I am actually physically stuck and cannot move because of something that happened during the night...........dont know if I pass from this or not.........can't see.

The other thing I got was people showing me a huge spacecraft hovering just like the Will Smith movie when he goes out to the letterbox. The thing is it doesn't have the effect some people think it has. The people wait to see if their good or bad.

I do believe the unawake actually download things without realising.

I would wait it out for a few days and when everything goes Mad Max style I'd grab the tent, fishing supplies and any other survival gear and head for the bush near a creek.

@biggz. The windmill drives the pump.

The pump is at the bottom of the shaft (mine are 100 feet deep)

the head of the mill has a gearbox/transmission that is connected to a shaft, that is connected to a segmented rod, which goes inside a segmented pipe, which goes inside a casing.

The pump is connected to both the rod and pipe. When the head turns, the rod goes up and down, lifting the buckets in the pump. A clack stops the water running out between strokes.

I`m more then ready got the barbie and 3 full tanks to cook with , Those that think hygiene is going to be of a big importance ... think again . here is another one you missed Sky what if you were all forced out of your homes? and what if those homes were destroyed thru a facist government edict? One need look no further then what is going on in the New Madrid area of Missouri . US government has bought up 140 million MRE`s 14 million blankets lots of bottled water and fuel both diesel and Gasoline . Their expectations are for roughly 7 million survivors and 35,000 casualties.

As if that wasn`t enough they are planning an exercise in that area this May in this area simulating an earthquake of grand proportions . I need not remind one of the exercise on both 9-11 and 7-7 simulating the very incidents that took place to add fuel to this fire the university of Illinois has done a study consisting of hundreds of page on the possibilities of such an event and the out come of where the people would be re-located to
