soldier with kurt russel and jason scott lee?
Ya i've seen it a few times.
Interesting premise, although with a better director and script iit could have been a much better movie. The information about the soldiers, their upbringing, training etc, tracks with parts of other things that are floating around out there.
-------
watched avatar for the first time today. It was ok i suppose, although i dont get how it became so huge.. Anyone else happen to notice some kind of artificialy heightened emotional response to certain images/lines/scenes? I most definately did.
-------
also finally got my dvd copy of 'lost things', a very very low-budget psychological supernatural teen slasher with a twist.
It was filmed over twelve days, co-inciding with halloween and a full moon, on a beach where aparently people had been murdered 10 years previous.
You only see about 5 people all movie, and almost the whole thing takes place on a desrted beach. The second half espeacialy is quite interesting. Several things to watch out for. The moon non-linear time memory issues the violin music (i dont know exactly the notes etc, but it is one freaky little bit of music, and i only get freaked by stuff that has some kind of frequency or something) the freaky red things on the beach the guy who may or may not be the 'devil'
cant post a trailer, but dont watch the international one with the shitty 'american' voice-over. It is crap and does no justice. The australian trailer, from the dvd, without the voiceover is far superior.
-------
oh, and my friend showed my a serbian movie that i dont think i should even mention by name. One of the most disturbing things i have seen. If this was 2 years ago during my research phase for this stuff, i would have loved it. Sort of.
The thing is, the movie is really really really well made. Better than many hollywood films. Direction, cinematography, score, editing, script, everything.
The basic plot is this guy who is a retired porn star, the best of the best, a true artiste. He is approached by a director who make porn for 'very rich and powerfull people). The actor will be paid a ridiculous amount of money to perform, but will not be told what scenes he is filming until seconds before they start, for a more realistic performance.
The first half is pretty tame. The second half, when things start to happen, is fucking insane.
There are some clues too. Many of the 'scenes' are filmed at low angle (kubrick style) in a room with a nice chessboard floor, and some strategic art placements, non-linear time structure (half the movie is in flashback)and a few other things, like how the retired porn star is druuged out of his mind without consent and then set loose in scenes. All the camera operators are dressed in military unforms. And the particular acts comissioned by the rich and powerful are very telling. Whoever made this movie either has first hand info, or someone was feeding him first hand info.
If anyone has seen the nick cage film '8mm', about snuff movies, and/or either of eli roth's 'hostel' about eastern european 'torture-for-sport' for the uber-rich, then cross those together and multiply by about 100.
if it wasnt so fucking full-on i would highly recommend it. Its very well made, and by the end you really do feel for the guy and his family, and what happens to them, and the little twist/false ending does a good job of widening the scope..

otter of the sky.....
Lost things has been on my collection list for years. Has taken that long to track down a copy
the serbian movie, well, i didnt go looking for it. It found me. When something like that finds me, i have learnt to take notice.
Disney/pixar...i dont know what to say there. Animated kids movies contain more subliminals and triggers, NLP and straight up brainwashing than anything else. Even primetime network tv. Its been years since i have been able to sit through one all the way. Except for futurama movies, but they aren't kids movies.
You know that the people who run disney are EXACTLY the kind of people who comission kiddie porn and snuff films right?
I've spent thousands of hours down this rabbit hole sky.
--------
other than those couple of movies though, i am watching dvds of comedy tv shows. Arrested development, trailer park boys, 30 rock, IT crowd, aqua teen hunger force, black books, spaced, bottom, blackadder, that kind of stuff.

Stal, I cannot cut and paste with the stupid lap top, have to wait till I get a proper PC, but I have seen both films, the Nic Cage 8 mm one and the Hostel one.
I have to say I am absolutely astounded that you could sit through that film you talk about if it is 100 times worse than the 8mm and the Hostel one.
I got upset with both films because I think of someone I love in that same situation and then I want to spend every penny I have to track down people like this and very quickly shoot every darn one of them in the head. Yes I could think of other more nasty things to do to them but I wouldn't waste my time, just shoot them dead and move on to the next one. Although I suppose I could pass them on to the relatives of people who were taken and killed slowly I definitely could do that.
The fact of the matter is I know that there are places like this for people who can pay for their sick fantasies. That's why I really don't care if down the track a couple of years where wiped off because of so many sick mfers.

doctor who 2009 winter (uk) special
the end of time parts 1 and 2
watched this on dvd last night. Aside from the fact that it was the farewell to david tennant's version of the dr, there are several unusual things in these eps. Theres all kinds of symbolism and ritual, and some doomsday programming, that aren't in the show normally.

That's interesting, I note free to air had some doctor who episode on the other night, but being as I am still living with the mother at the moment I can't watch what I want.
Which reminds me I am looking at packages of Foxtel, Austar etc, because I love my sci-fi channels, History etc, etc plus some goodin films.
I don't like the sports channel and because I will be living with no one except furry friends I am hoping some advice from the aussie guys on what sort of cable I should get. No I dont know how to use that Q thing, I will ask the guys that come and put it in what it is about and how to work it, it should take them about 12 hours.
Sorry I went off topic Stal hon. xo

biggz, i'm hearing you about foxtel. I almost never watch network tv, only pay, and mainly movies.
Have heard of disturbed. Not much of a fan, but they're fairly popular.

soma, yeah thats an interesting episode, for a few reasons. Like the 'federation' sterilising most of the earths population.
Good link too.

ok so tonight i am watching network tv lol. Network tv and room service woot.
Wtf is up with angelina jolie in alexander. I mean, the whole movie is kinda off, but she has something odd going on. Not her shite accent, but something else.
Either talent or some kind of possesion/channeling lol.
No wonder the PID crew call the 'new' angelina fangelina, 'cause the 'old' one did have something about her.

yaya channel surfing in my hotle room.
Hit the disney channel.
Show called 'the sweet life of zach and cody'
z and c are the twin sons (twin suns) of of the the in-house lounge singer at the tipton (hilton) hotel. Other characters include london tipton (paris hilton), and some girl who works in the gift shop (played by ashley tinsdale from high school musical).
The ep i just saw involved seances and chanelling. Go disney!! (sarcasm)
also, the (CG) exterior shots of the tipton hotel look very much like the dakota building (rosemary's baby, the joint where john lennon was sacrificed etc etc)

also, has anyone ever actualy watched hannah montana?
That show is so blatant its not even funny.
I've only seen a few eps, but all of them have all kinds of references to MK'd celebrity.

Hey Stal I watched another Korean flick the other night... more comedy sorta
Check the plot summary, you will get it
"Woochi" begins in the Chosun Dynasty in 1509 and involves a trio of Taoist wizards, a magician named Jeon Woo Chi (Kang Dong-Won) and his dog turned man, a corrupt king, evil goblins, and a prophetic pipe everyone is after. Eventually Jeon Woo Chi becomes sealed inside an ancient scroll for a crime he did not commit.
Jumping ahead to the year 2009, the wizards are called out of peaceful retirement as goblins start appearing in modern Korea to wreak havoc all around. The trio call on Jeon Woo Chi, who is released from his ancient scroll entrapment, in to save the day. Problem is Jeon Woo Chi, a kind of anti-superhero, becomes more interested in sight-seeing and womanizing in modern day Korea.

Whilst on the topic of movies. If anyone has some time to fill out the form that would be cool to help Master Terry
KUNG-FU PANDA LAWSUIT
Plaintiff Terry Dunn discloses 1992 creation date of his original concept of a Kung-Fu-fighting panda bear and other story elements, which he alleges in his lawsuit were stolen by Dreamworks executives Lance Young and Michael Lachance in 2002 following his "Zen-Bear" pitch and subsequent discussions.
Well worth watching mate. It could be used as a propaganda film against the Japanese...but in the context i viewed it in.... bought a tear to my eye.
Better stop spamming your thread with Kungfu LOL

oh man i only just saw somas last post here...
Yes i have seen ip man. Imo its an awesome movie.
Donnie yen's wing chun is...wow.
I've watched him in a shitload of movies over the years, and he's always been very good. My uncle used to be a wing chun instructor, so i have a little bit of an idea about the form.
There are some interesting points made about japan/china relations. Reminded me a bit of jet li's 'fist of legend', which is a remake of bruce lee's 'fist of fury'.
For a different perspective there is a japanese film called 'black belt' which is quite good. One of the top karate dojos refused to train soldiers.
