well yesterday all those plants finally got in the ground..in my little kitchen garden...and today's rain is doing it's job
and if i can only get the mulching done..it will be just wait to eat em..
soooooooooooooooo here's what it looked like late yesterday
the sign is in the parsley last years is going to seed and this year's just coming up
right behind it are the chives
and to the side some carrots and beets
then the peas with some garlic transplants in front of them
as you can see not real large in size..but we have tucked in just about everything
i only started the tomatoes from seed..but a lot of the others i bought in 6 paks
and potted into larger pots so they would have some root room while we waited for the weather
the strawberries are doing well and i snipped off the first set of blossoms even though it hurt
volunteer dill around the bottom of the strawberry tube
and to the left wild ginger..left over from when this was my herb garden and some kholrabi
on the other side around the tree are lettuces, spinach and shallots and green onions
we experiment all the time so this year is no exception and we are growing determinate tomatoes (only about 4' tall) in the circle
and the indetermines (just keep growing) along the fence with some herbs behind them and next to the fence
hubby dragged that cement culvert in and we put a couple zucchini plants in it
herbs between the indertermine tomatoes are from top to bottom
borage and pennyroyal
rosemary
french tarragon
sage
basil
and then two lemon verbena's ..if i'm lucky i can get two years out of them and they will get nice and big
and lavendar at the entrances..so when you walk past you brush against it
the furthest circle has 6 green sweet peppers and six savoy cabbages
another circle has 6 red sweet peppers 6 celery and 6 cauliflower
and down in back of the peas are a half role of pole beans and a half row of cukes..both to climb on my little pea fence
and behind them 6 yellow sweet peppers and 6 broccoli
the potatoes out in the new box raised bed has straw and dried grass piling up but the onions and garlic need mulched yet..
so you can see there is a lot there
i sure hope that gives some of you guys some iencouragement to grow something..anything..
it is work..but you get sooooooo much back besides something to munch on
happy gardening
