Here is a little story about a border collie dog I used to have.
First of all he loved to sit out at the end of our driveway and chase cars that went up and down the road. He had a path worn along the ditch where he would run back and forth.
One day he was doing his thing and took off after a car and got a little brave and ran right up on the road. Well he didn't catch the car and as he turned, there was a school bus coming from the other direction that hit him, sending him spinning into the ditch. He was not too badly hurt (other than his pride I think) but the spinning around caused him to lose his sense of direction. Well luckily I had seen it all happen and he wandered off , going away from home. I jumped in my truck and found him an hour later. He was lost. I opened up my door of the truck, and he jumped in.
For a couple of days after we got home he did no chasing at all. Then little by little he ventured back out to his worn path. But now he didn't venture out onto the road. The funny thing was if a big truck or school bus was coming, he would lie there perfectly still. The only thing that would move was his eyes. Just watching the big ones go on by.
Well the best was one day after a rain and the ditch was a little muddy. He was back on duty, when my neighbour was coming into my place. He slowed down with his signal on, and was waiting for an oncoming car, who was being chased by the patrol dog. Well the lady in the car thought the dog was going to run out onto the road so she slammed on her brakes and stopped. My neighbour turned in the end of my lane and she stopped him, and proceeded to take a strip off of him about this dog that was going to cause an accident.
She went on and on until finally my neighbour said "Are you done yet? I don't live here and this isn't my dog!!!"
Now furious the lady turned to leave. Looking back at her car she realized that she had left her car door open. Well guess who was sitting up in the car .... dirty paws and all!!!!!!
He got an extra treat that night.

I love eagles and have had one following me for years. Everytime I would go fishing it would show up and fly around and I would stop fishing to just watch him. I loved it. Then one day I didn't see him and I really felt bad. ( We always fished in the same spot each time.)
We were flying across the lake to leave and all of a sudden this very loud noise could be heard and my husband turned and said.....there is your friend. I looked up and sure enough, he was squawking and flapping his wings in a tree off on the side shore line.
I yelled out Hello and Good bye .....that was the last time we went fishing.....the following spring my husband seen one in the trees in our front yard. Amazing as hel ! That was two years ago and I have not seen him again. He came in and told me my friend found me. I loved that special friend of mine and in my heart I know he was a true friend. I felt proud because I to this day, truly believed he looked for me.
I could watch my friend fly forever as it was such a beautiful site....Just Glorious

mic...love the story about your dog....especially how he was waiting in the car for the lady...lol...sounds like something that could be in a movie
when I was a kid ...(not that long ago..still lots of fun in me yet!) we had a dog who had spots like Snoopy from the Peanuts cartoon. so we called him Snoopy..of course. Well this dog loved to chase cars. which really wasnt a big deal because we were way out in the country living on a gravel road without too much traffic...But when the farms started to sell, and the horse farms gone, and the cows gone too...the road got paved, a school was built close by and Snoop would have to be broken of his love of chasing cars. Snoop loved doing this and he would always come back from chasin another one, with a look of the greatest bravado ever..you could see it in his eyes...he had done his duty protecting our home. But when the cars came by more often, and went faster, we had to do something fast.
We got the hose and brought it around front and kept a bucket of water handy and we'd run out there to hose and dump all this water on Snoop while telling him that there are too many cars and he's get hurt...Snoop got the idea quick enough and would stand there as they went by giving a woof and watching closely - all except for the garbage truck.
Snoop was an older dog by now, and had lost most of his teeth - but you'd never know it because he was as spry as a dog half his age. He could have a mean bark that just wouldnt quit, like he meant business.
So when the garbage truck came by we just didnt have the heart to take this bit of fun from ol' Snoop. Off he'd run barking growling with his hackles up and charging at the truck, even chewing on the tires. Now our garbage men knew Snoop couldnt and would bite them, it was the truck he was after so they let Snoop charge and gum down those tires while grinning away and taking our garbage.
One day they had a new man on the job..who didnt know Snoop and his buddy didnt tell him either...he got out of the truck to get the garbage pails when out came Snoop growling and barking charging at him and the truck .. this poor guy ran back into the truck and refused to come out...lol...we went over to the guy to let him know Snoop didnt have any teeth and wouldnt bite him, he'd just gum the tires a bit...
it took the guy a while but eventually he got used to Snoop who never bit him...but this guy kept the truck door open and his back to the truck ready to charge back in at a moment's notice....never failed to crack me up over someone being afraid of our toothless dog...

Day I like your snoop dog story. You would wonder if at sometime that garbage truck or guys did something to upset him.
I like this one...

Ha ha... love the kangaroos Mic.
Well - keep in mind that Snoop dog never attacked the garbage men, but gummed the tires, and barked when taking the garbage (our property in Snoop Dogs mind) and putting in the truck -- the garbage men who came to know Snoop would talk to him and we'd be watching either outside or by the window.
Snoop never bit another person and all except one newbie garbage man liked Snoop...laughed at him gumming the tires...;-)
Snoop dog was very protective. When we went swimming at the lake as kids...ol' Snoop would be right there barking and swimming with us...He'd want you to grab a hold of his tail and he would pull us into shore...

Eagles are special to me too, in Native Traditions they are closest to the Creator.
We have a prayer called the Thanksgiving prayer...Whenever we say this prayer always the Eagle come and flies in a circle above us. I prayed this prayed once alone out in bush - I spent several days alone and when I prayed this prayer ...there is such a great feeling knowing our Creator hears our prayers and sends the Eagle.
