I love all animals ...Im not crazy about any particular one but cats really make me laugh and When i think of the cats, dogs, and birds etc in my life I thought maybe we could share our animals stories
We had a orange tom cat named Angel. We took Angel with us one day to visit family. Now Angel loved just about everyone and had a way to let win you over.
Even their Springer spaniel dog was fair game for Angle.
Angel never fought with the dog, but gently let his presence be know in subtle ways, like hiding on the chairs under the table cloth and patting the dog on the head. Now this dog was a great pet. Patient with children, loved people. But Angel perplexed him because this cat never ran away from him.
They got used to each other and one day Angel followed the dog into the kitchen and pawed open the cupboard door where the dog biscuits were. Naturally the dog went over and Angel pushed the box over and pawed out a biscuit ...and there was this springer spaniel dog barking for a treat. lol...
Angel pushed a biscuit over to the dog and waited until he was done. The dog we could swear was smiling and barked just once for his next biscuit. Sure enough Angel pawed out another biscuit for the dog ....
they were best friends after that....

mr. kitty is amazing.... i brought him home one day, had been unable to resist some ragamuffin kids outside a target store with this box of kittens... i gave him to my son who loved him dearly and he grew up with both of us... when m son moved to the city, mr. kitty stayed with me until i left home, then he was smuggled into my son's apartment - neither of us could bear the idea of him being with anyone else... *** when i lived in napa, we had a big ole clawfoot bathtub... one of mr. kitty's favorite things was to sit in the sink and wait for me to finish my bath.... i would be playing with bubbles and my rubber duckies and look over, seeing him from his chest up, just staring at me... as soon as the water was drained out, in the tub he would jump, and roll around and around in the tub, it was like a big warm tongue licking him, i think. then he would sit and stare at the faucet until i turned on the cold water a trickle so he could drink.... *** when i worked at my desk, i usually had a glass of water nearby... mr. kitty would jump up and try to drink from the glass, but usually couldn't reach inside deep enough - he would stare at me - if i didn't reach over to tip the glass for him so he could drink, he would reach out and nudge the glass - every once in awhile, i wouldn't notice in time, and he would push it off the edge so it would spill - i learned to pay attention, and would tip the glass so he could drink and not knock it over *** after grocery shopping, while the empty bags were on the kitchen floor, one of his favorite things was to crawl inside, turn around and peek out, thinking himself invisible i think... *** gosh, i miss him terribly, he brought us a lot of laughter, but i know he is happy with my son *** here is mr. kitty, posing for pic:

Great stories guys, I just love stories like these. My forum name is for the cat my son called Mr Bigglesworth and we called him Biggles or Biggs for short. My son Matt brought him back from Queensland years ago when he was living up there. Matt found out that Biggs' original owners did not get him fixed and hence he was found in a neighbour's backyard trying to get to the female cat and ended up being physically abused by the neighbour and developed a diaphragmatic hernia which was not fixed. By the time my son brought him back to Victoria to live I would find he would cough badly now and then. I eventually took him to the vets and then a veterinary hospital and hence after tests the diagnosis was found. Nothing could be done because it was years after the injury and the operation was termed very risky.
Biggs was a devon rex cat and would hide behind doors, looked around the corner of them to see if the dogs were coming, and when they came past he would jump over the top of them to try and scare them. If I was being yelled at he would appear out of nowhere to try and give me support. He would jump up on the bed, ignore the two little dogs up there growling at him and move into the crook of my arm, put his leg over my chest and go to sleep, that always made me go to sleep too. If I took the little dogs out for a walk when I got back I would see biggs looking out the window waiting for me and by the time I got to the front door and opened it he would be there waiting for me. One day when he was sitting on my chest looking at me, he just bent over and kissed me.
On the 12 August 2008, Biggs passed away. I had been taking him up to the vets for injections every few weeks for months but in the end he was in too much pain and could hardly move so my son and I stayed with him while he passed over. My son said he had never saw me cry at funerals but that I cried from my soul over Biggs. Because he came from Queensland I couldn't bury him in the backyard so we decided to get him cremated ordered a nice wooden urn and now he sits on a set of drawers in my bedroom with his photo on the front and a little plaque saying.........To our Beloved Mr Bigglesworth 12/08/08 We will always be with you, until we are together again........Heather and Matthew.
I am hoping that when my soul leaves my body and passes the first thing I see is him. He gave me love, affection and more love.
I suppose I should not have wrote this story as it is a bit sad and depressing to read and this thread is supposed to be funny and uplifting. Biggs was funny and uplifting and terribly smart. If the dogs gave him any trouble he would give them a stare as if to say..........you silly little things, you better behave I will give you a swipe now, so behave. He was a card and a half. If he is not the first one I meet when I cross over the Biggles will be demanding a discussion on why with the Boss. Mmmh, I am sure that will go down well.

Great stories guys, I love animals and thier behavioral quirks. I had a cat as my first pet, Snickers (which is awesome for my stripper name equation: first pet + first street name = Snickers Chasebury), I really wanted a dog but my parents would only allow a cat, which kinda bummed me out at first, but she actually turned out to have alot of what you would traditionally think of as canine traits. Like, she would drink out of the toilet and chase her tail for countless revolutions and sometimes she even she caught it which invariably startled her causing her to break out of her crazy spin into almost like a backflip kinda thing. She just had so much energy, probably 'cause she was an indoor cat, she'd love to wait on the stairs perfectly at eye level for someone to walk by around the corner and whip out her paw to give ya a little smack in the face and then bolt, or come flying in a room full of people and cruise across everybody on the couch. I'm kinda makin her sound like a jerk which isn't the case, I remember being super freaked out after watching the Exorcist and she slept with me all night which she never did normally. I really liked that cat but when she died I tried for a dog again but the parents went with my sisters again so that time we got 2 cats which i think maybe they reasoned would equal a dog?
When I graduated I got a dog finally, a border collie, Sierra, but I've taken to calling her Wondermutt.
She's super smart, always herding people, and really athletic too, I think she'd give any of those pro frisbee dogs a run for thier money (for 10 minutes until she gasses out!). One of the smartest things I've seen her do is pick up two toys at once, I was throwing the frisbee for her and she missed one and it landed next to a tennis ball which she loves just as much as her frisbee. So she just stared at 'em for a second and then picked up the tennis ball, dropped it on the frisbee and brought them both back to me.
That's a great vid too day, I saw it awhile ago, but I think it was called Death Wish Monkey .

wow raulduke
...your dog is really super smart....I love how she brought back both tennis ball and frisbee although Im not sure how she managed to carry both at the same time! Amazing
Your cat sounds like a lot of fun lol....we had a cat who would do that too wait on the stairs and put her paw out....she loved to surprise us lol...
Death wish monkey sounds like a better title

Day, wonderful kitty vid, thank you hon. This is why I miss my pets, my little friends so much, I pine for them terribly.
Hopefully sometime next year. It seems like a hundred years instead of 10 months

I haven't had a pet since my two cats died. I do tend to get homeless cats visit me all the time to visit and mooch a meal.
Since I've moved there is one male tiger cat that I would love to bring into my home, only he won't have it! He loves his freedom visiting everyone in the area, checking out the most comfortable spots (especially when it's raining or snowing), getting as much love as he can, grabbing a bowl of milk, then moving on.
This cat won't even eat pet food or cooked meat or fish. All he wants is milk (even though I know it's not good for cats how can I refuse him when he refuses water). He is so smart and I swear he understands everything you tell him. When you say no, he stops and just sits there or moves on with a dejected look on his face. When I take a walk he comes running out of the woods and walks along side of me, he's a strange, but lovable cat!

B:
This cat is about 4 or 5 years old and a neighbor told me everyone named him Shady because he likes to sleep under the pine trees during the summer to keep cool. He is probably healthier than any indoor cat I've ever seen. He's hunting his food and always bringing an array of critters to my door. He gets so much love and attention, yet he still calls the shots. He was meant to be a free spirit but always knows when he can't find somewhere warm and dry someone will let him in. He actually rang my doorbell at 3:00 in the morning every night for a week. It took me awhile to figure out it was him. I'd wake up and no one was there. Then one afternoon I saw him do it again and again. I think he just liked ringing it.

Yep, he's quite the cat, always entertaing me. He toys with moles until they're dead, I bury them, he digs them up. One day he showed up while I was in the garden with a baby rabbit in his mouth. That baby looked at me pleading and crying to help it. I sternly told him to let it go and he just stared at me. All I had was a plastic lid around me so I wacked him on the head with it and said "let that baby go!". Well he didn't listen and I chased him until he found a hole in the fence. I don't hold out much hope that it got away.

Id like to share a story about one of my cats.... she had problems with her milk drying up after the kittens had gone to new homes. I used reiki on her sore and swollen teats. the next day she was fine once more, and I let her out as usual. She came back in an hour and dropped a mouse at my feet as a gift of thanks for healing her.
Could have been the baby rabbit was a gift to you for the milk and friendship you gave to Shady.
Cats are lovely this way and always give back in thanks!
would love to here how he rang the doorbell though lol.... quite a character!

Day, my cat that died had the same problem. I used to wrap her in warm mosit towels and feed the kittens by dropper so they wouldn't inflame her anymore. She never recovered.
Shady jumps on the recycle bin which is hidden beind the srubs in front of the house and reaches up to touch the doorbell (it's lighted at night).
I think the baby rabbit was his supper unfortunately. I wanted to rescue it but couldn't.

I had the feeling he was bypassing the cat food because he was getting all too fresh food elsewhere by himself.
Ringin the doorbell, he is a card that cat, I am sorry, but he is comic that one.

sorry to hear about your cat Deb...
One of my cats was like Shady, funny as heck and a great personality...He would have a good dinner while out and snubbed his 'catfood' in favor of feeding himself...cant say I blame him.
although he never rang the doorbell ..he was still a charmer! Great story!
