| Subject: Super Typhoon Nida Strongest Storm Ever? Mon Nov 30, 2009 7:32 pm | |
| November 27, 2009 By Jesse Ferrell AccuWeathern Image: NASA's Aqua satellite captured a visible image of Super Typhoon Nida early on Nov. 25 that shows a perfectly symmetrical storm and a clear eye, both hallmarks of a powerful typhoon. (NASA MODIS Rapid Response Team) The CIMSS tropical website, which estimates hurricane intensity by satellite using the Advanced Dvorak Technique, said that Super Typhoon Nida had a pressure reading of 869.3 mb (25.67" Hg) on Wednesday. You may recall, I talked last month about Super Typhoon Tip which holds the record for the strongest tropical cyclone worldwide; Tip bottomed out at 870 mb in 1979. The official wind numbers put Nida at 160-knot (mph) sustained winds; SSEC estimated 164 knots (189 mph). Officially, Tip had 165-knot winds according to the Hurricane FAQ. http://standeyo.com/NEWS/09_Earth_Changes/091129.typhoon.strongest.ever.html | |

| Good grief Mic and down under early in November I think a 16 year old female Australian set out to sail around the world solo. Just the pirates alone would have had me overly concerned. | |
