sunny flower

you guys know i am into garden and such and we have just finished the planting..about two weeks later than normal
but still well within a good range for nice growth

my observation is on the flowers....
they seem to be rushing thur their life cycle from flower to seed heads in about half the normal time

flowers bloom ..don't stay long and quickly are going to seed...

have any of your noticed this speeding up of anything else??? scratch

I spend the weekend weeding.

I pulled out 80 cubic feet (for the americans, and because I know it was 4 cart loads) of weeds between the olive trees. Thats two rows done, only got 20 or so more to go :)

lol!

well
i have learned that those weeds can make great compost....as long as they aren't in seed

make a nice pile with a few shovels of dirttossed in there between big layers and let em rot...the weight of the pile does the work
you wouldn't believe what i tossed before i figured that out

and we don't weed anymore...we have all this grass to cut and if you can let it lay a day in the sun.
.you have a nice mulch that can be placed where you don't want to weed anymore..
the big purchase this year was a lawn rake...it's a sweeper type thing you hook onto the mower and it sweeps up the grass

sometimes lazy makes your brain work so your back can take a rest.. cheers

Now you mention it, the spring flowers here seemed to be up and over in a week or so, much quicker than other years. I did notice though, the amount of weeds we have, especially in areas of the city that isn't kept by individuals.

I've also noticed things like my tomato plants are only half the size they should be for the age of the plants. I've fed them each week (as it says on the packet) and water daily, but am amazed at their size. They're not even tall enough for canes yet, despite the TLC. Lettuce are all leaves but no heart in the middle. I put this down to it being my first novice year at growing them and maybe did something wrong? Hummmmm bigw

skywatcher
i don't think you did anything wrong...and a big good on you for planting stuff

what you are describing is pretty much what we are seeing here..
i spoke with a few other gardeners and they are seeing the same
veggies slow, flowers super fast..a zoom bloom

i think it speaks to the earth evolving.

hey Mic..how's your garden going up there?

any one else seeing this?
