| Cheers guys.
I used a entry level canon 1000D and slowed down the shutter speed to 4 secs. For the smoke shots I slowed it down further to 10 secs.
I used a tripod and cable release to have next to zero camera movement.
The post -processing I did was in Photoshop and Camera Raw. I adjusted some exposures, sharpening tricks and crops etc. I didn't mess with the hue or saturation so the colours are as you see them.

| Thanks again guys,
Sky I picked it up myself about a month ago. I went with Canon because of their quality and most professionals use them. The high end models have additional features such as 8 + continuous shots per second, higher auto focus points which are all good for shooting sports if that's what you do. Also more pixels doesn't mean better picture quality, it just means you can print a larger photo. A 20mp (megapixel) camera are great for billboards etc. A average size computer monitor can only view around 3 - 4mp at 100% view so you see size doesn't always really matter. Also some of the higher end models can shoot video at full 1080p quality. So it just depends what you want to use your camera for. Since I already have a HD camcorder, not planning on shooting sports or print billboard size prints I just went for the entry level. The beauty about DSLR's is the option to change lens, the quality and sharpness of your shots depends on the quality of your glass. Whenever possible always use a tripod to get those tack sharp shots and use a cable release or self timer because just pressing the shutter button causes camera movement that result to a blurry picture in the wrong lighting conditions. As long as you can control the settings manually such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO etc a entry level DSLR is always a great start for photography enthusiasts.
Sky I'm going to write up a guide/summary of how to shoot landscapes, flowers and people etc from the ebooks books I've been studying.

| You have to frame that one with the little yachts and boats and all in the harbour at the foreground with all the fireworks in the background; they are all exceptional but that is one you got to have. People would pay money for these. | |

I have an EOS 20D, its "only" 8m pixels, but the quality is such that you can print on A0 size and it is still ok. Here is one of mine from NYE 2006, I was at Milsons point. Some of my photography is here www.chaosfree.com
