| something i learnt a long time ago..
if you have a piece of clothing or cloth (as in dish cloth, etc) and it is badly stained or very dingy and don't want to or don't have bleach
take the cloth and completely wet it...
on a warm day lay it in the wet grass in the early morning the sun pulls the chlorophyll thur the cloth. and removes all or mostly all of the stain and dinginess .natural bleach..

| yeah great tip skyotter.............thanks.......my whites are a bit dinggy because i do not use bleach..........
chlorophil is great suff..........
i have never thought about using grass to whitten cloth.........
but i grow wheat grass and i used the juice on my skin to take away dark spots.......
before my liver started failing i got these really dark patches on my face......they were there for two years........
so i started to rub the fresh wheatgrass juice on the dark spots every morning after about three months they had completely disappeared........

| this method probably works well, but i dont think it has anything to do with the chlorophyll. the chloroplasts with the chlorophyll are inside the cell walls... if the cell wall ruptured, youd have green stains all over the clothing.
we have two powerful forces cleaning the clothes: wet grass and the sun. the wet grass underneath the clothing creates steam from the water vapor of the grass blades (or, probably even more effectively, the early morning dew) which help steam away the stain. the suns UV rays also help bleach out the stain.
