More clarity of why the US is in Afghanistan.

I have always wondered why the US wanted to invade Afghanistan so badly after the false flag of 9-11. I always thought it was for the opium and putting a oil pipeline across the country.

The New York Times today proclaimed that Afghanistan is apparently poised to become “the Saudi Arabia of lithium” — a metal used to produce gadgets like iPods and laptops. The discovery will also, according to Pentagon documents quoted by the Times, fundamentally transform the country’s opium-reliant economy.

I read this and what I don't understand is how this is news. Afganistan has always been mineral rich. It's also been a region for high quality precious gemstones, primarily Sleeping Beauty Tourquoise and Beryl whcih fetch high prices on the open market. Maybe drug running just plain pays more with less work and investment involved...


I can't believe that some country doesn't already have the mineral rights to this area unless their options expired.
