| R mentioned herbs in pots is great... you don't need a lot of room..depends on how many different ones you want to grow my experience is that they do not like to be fertilized..with anything the worse state the dirt is in the higher the essential oil in the herb which makes it stronger but if you want fast growth..use good soil and some compost working into the soil i wanted an herb garden soooo bad.. we have a tiny piece of ground between the sidewalk and the patio ..it was a ****to mow.. so i started by going round the maple tree that is there and then just kept on going a view of most of it from the library window...the bricks were free and i cleaned and placed everyone..i didn't start out with a pattern but i think it turned out pretty good...my main reason was so i could pick herbs in the morning without getting my feet wet.. i have moved most of the herbs to a different spot and an using this as a kitchen garden..but some of the permenant ones are the chives and parsley the chives i cut down right after the snow cleared ..they will continue to grow and if you do not pick the flowers they will spread and the parsley i also cut..yesterday i scratched in a package of new seeds i lost the old parsley in a move from another little patch parsley will grow two to three years before going to seed and there are several different kinds i let it got to seed and shake the seeds onto that patch and then pull out the old plants as they die..new shoots for no cost don't be afraid to grow around where you are living..almost any small spot will be just fine good luck

| speaking of herbs.... i was so inspired by our otter that today i went outside and planted - well, sowed seeds.... i didn't take pictures, i will if anything grows... i walked the property and found 5 separate spots where the afternoon sun shines and the trees protect from wind, as well as the ground being soft enough to dig - as i chose these spots, it was important that no one be able to spot them easily from the road(s) or the air... i dug the holes, loosened the soil within them and scattered seeds, then covered them with dirt and watered from a gallon jug - voila! *** anyone guess what kind of herb i sowed? | |

| Leaves are very little in THC so you want the buds to get really Female plants harvest buds. The male plants only flower, they don't bud | |

| and, in the further education of our mz biggz, more details.... *** biggs, after the seeds sprout and get grown a little, you examine them and you can see that the "male" plants have little balls where stems come off main branch and the "females" have little hairs .... you rip the males out of the ground before they can develop and would be able to pollinate the female flowers (buds) .... because, as our FL says, the buds are what getya mellow, the leaves are kinda useless - and when the female plants get "frustrated" cuz she can't have any pollen, she makes her buds even more potent ...... **** gosh i love the way mother nature works! | |
