Brown dwarfs are sub-stellar objects which are too low in mass to sustain hydrogen-1 fusion reactions in their cores, which is characteristic of stars on the main sequence. Brown dwarfs have fully convective surfaces and interiors, with no chemical differentiation by depth. Brown dwarfs occupy the mass range between that of large gas giant planets and the lowest-mass stars; this upper limit is between 75[1] and 80 Jupiter masses (MJ). Currently there is some debate as to what criterion to use to define the separation between a brown dwarf and a giant planet at very low brown dwarf masses (~13 MJ ), and whether brown dwarfs are required to have experienced fusion at some point in their history. In any event, brown dwarfs heavier than 13 MJ do fuse deuterium and those above ~65 MJ also fuse lithium. Some planets are known to orbit brown dwarfs: 2M1207b, MOA-2007-BLG-192Lb, and 2MASS J044144b.

They were just recently talking about "rouge planets"... planets the size of Jupiter out and about with no star to attach themseves to.
For less than the cost of a cup of coffee each month, we can take these gas giants and find for them a permanent home so they will never feel alone again. Here at Rouge Planet Christian's fund, we can feed and clothe one of these bastard planets....
(sorry. First thing that pops into my head shouldn't always be said outloud.)
The director of NASA has a good point. My ol' lady is an ICU nurse, and she will be taking care of the unfortunate while me and the kids stay at home. It's the sennario that is stuck in my head. I cannot allow problems at home to keep her here, and I must be ready to do whatever is needed on my own.
the connection between these things is not coincidence. We are about to reach the point where whatever it is that's gonna get us will be too big to hide. Some type of new star or constellation will be visible soon, and it will be spun as "A beautiful new addition to the night sky," but it will be the hearldor of doom.
Your list of possibilities is extensive! How do you sleep at night knowing that any or all of these things could happen in the next year and a half?!!

At night I just close my eyes and drift, it's that easy! We all gotta die at some time or other, so I don't sweat too much about it. Being informed is just part of the easing process I guess.

My buddy said the same thing, "We all gotta die. you cannot take it with you when you go."
To me, that thinking is backwards. Nothing I have read says that we cannot escape. This event is not new, and we have survived it once before. (Not us, specifically. You know, humanity in general) At night I just close my eyes too.... because i spend every waking moment working to fix, fabricate, or procure all I can. That, on top of "real life" with kids, a mortgage, housework....
I wish they'd legalize meth!!

what is doom besides a state of mind? none of us are getting out alive anyway...with our meat suits, that is..
all of these gonna get cha scenarios are to fuss up the paranoid and weak if the planet is going to go boom or whatever the tragedy of the day is what real difference does it make if you know or not
unless of course you are one of those rare individuals who can actually do something about what's going on something beside just posting crap everywhere so that the energies are lowered instead of raised
so if you know and can't really do anything about it - it can drive you nuts if you don't know you can enjoy here up to the last second
everyone wants a new world..and you aren't going to get that without the loss of the old world
embrace the end..and it makes the now much better

I admit, I may be wrong. I may have interpreted data in a way that is sci fi.
And, you know.... I admit it.... I am totally wrong! I would hate to see anyone go and buy large amounts of food, or water, or start producing solar power or wind power, or prepare a small shelter with about 3 yards of compact earth separating you from the outside world. It's nuts to know that 3 yards compact earth = 3 inches granite= 1 cm lead. When's that gonna come up in casual conversation?!!
