this year i found that making smoothies is the best way to beat the heat and still get nutrition..
i have some vanilla yogurt in the frig at all times now
read the label here..cause some of them put in aspartame..
i guess i could get plain yogurt and add the vanilla myself..but this works
you will need a blender or juicer or something electric to mix the ingredients with
vanilla yogurt
one/two fruits..can be fresh, or canned or frozen..whatever works
just so they are mostly natural
if you like things sweeter that's ok..use raw sugar or honey ..just a teaspoonfull to start
a little liquid can be
fruit juice, water, half and half, skim milk, again your choice
dump them into the blender and blend
pour and enjoy
today i picked a couple handsful of blackberrys and a couple ugly but good tasting peaches
and a tiny bit of skim milk and the yogurt and
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yum
some of my favorite combos are
banana and strawberry
strawberry and pineapple
i buy frozen organic strawberries cause i never have any fresh ones left
and canned pineapple cause i'm too lazy to cut up a fresh one
banana's can be tossed into the freezer if they are getting too ripe and then pulled out and peeled
then tossed into the blender...makes the whole thing very icy
if i can manage to not eat all the watermellon that is the next experiment
so go for it..
experiment with fresh ingredients
add liquid or not for thin or thick smoothies
you soon find some favorites
