| i put a birdbath by our front door, where i can see it from inside a big window - no small task, since any water evaporates quickly when in the desert...... *** for a couple days i waited, and then.... *** this morning, they came! *** at least 50 little birds, some yellow breasted (wild finches? canaries?) and some brown: lining the window sills, skittering on the roof, fluttering back and forth from the juniper trees, splashing in the water - all vying for their turn - JOY *** sometimes, it's the simplest things bringing the greatest impact *** | |

| How wonderful Isn't it amazing how the simpliest actions can bring so much joy. I've always tried to live as close to the woods as possible so when I wake up in the morning it's to the sweet music of all the different species of birds nesting in the trees outside my bedroom window. I keep my blinds open all night so they are the first thing I see in the morning. | |

| Today the birds were at war... All I could hear was crows yacking at some of the other birds and them yelling back. I felt like I was in the middle of the AH movie "The Birds". | |

| Ya what's up with all of the crows. We have always had a few crows in the area, but this year there is thousands of them. You should see what they are doing to my corn. (outside rows anyway). They are just stripping the cobs. I think I need a couple of scarecrows. | |

| Ya I have a hundred acres (field corn) for my cattle. ET scarecrows would be awesome. Might scare my cattle too though, let alone the neighbours. | |
